What is NIOS?
NIOS — the National Institute of Open Schooling — is a national education board under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and the world's largest open schooling system.
It was created so that children who learn outside conventional classrooms — including home-schooled children — can earn fully recognised certificates, equivalent to those of other national boards, valid for higher education and careers across India and abroad.
NIOS offers Open Basic Education for the foundational years and formal Secondary (Class 10) and Senior Secondary (Class 12) certification — with the freedom to learn at home, at your child's pace, and appear for examinations when ready.
